My nightly skincare routine (for combination skin)
4:28 PMToday I'm here to breakdown for you my nighttime skincare routine!
This routine has really, like I'm not kidding, (I'm 100% for real) helped me fight my hormonal acne and maintained balance for my combination skin. I'm going to write for you step by step my skincare ritual (at night) and the products I've been loving.
Step #1: Your face must be makeup free!
To start your nightly routine, you MUST remove your makeup. The best remedy for this is the micellar water. The product I recommend is Garnier's Micellar Cleansing Water; it is a miracle beauty product. It leaves your face makeup free and ready for the next step.
Step #2: Double cleanse
I don't do this every day, but every other day I definitely double cleanse. If I feel I still need to really clean my face from leftover makeup, I use my Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser. Since its a very gentle makeup, I am not afraid of closing my eyes and literally put the product everywhere to get every single atom of makeup out of my skin. I massage it gently into my skin and later I rinse it. After the Milky Jelly Cleanser, I use Boscia's Detoxifying Black Gel Cleanser, for a REAL cleanse. Not that using Glossier's cleanser is not enough, but for my hormonal acne prone skin, I need something stronger but gentle at the same time. I have done my research and Boscia has been the brand that most people recommend for my type of skin as well as Glamglow. This cleanser has changed the game for my skincare routine. I massage the warming gel first in my hand, because it gets a bit hot. I do that to prevent anything from my sensitive skin and then gently massage it until it lathers. It has definitely improved my skin's texture and it really unclogs my pores from any impurity.
Step #3: Tone to save a life
It is extremely important to use a toner after cleansing. I use Clinique's Clarifying Lotion 3 for combination skin. It is one of my favorite toners by far and it has also improved how my pores look.
Step #4: Mask your blemishes away
I do not prefer to use masks all over my face, I instead treat my spots and areas that need my utmost attention. For my jaw area, where my texture and hormonal acne is more potent, I use Glamglow's Supermud Clearing Treatment. I have a sample from a recent purchase in Sephora and I have been LOVING it. I want to buy the full size product, because it has definitely improved my skin's appearance and it eliminates my stubborn pimples right away. I have been seeing a smoother skin ever since I've been using this mask. Just as the instructions recommend, I use this 1-3 times a week! A must for combination and oily skin!
Step #5: You have to moisturize. PERIOD.
After all the masks and cleansers, you have to hydrate your skin. Before this, I religiously drink a bottle of water and then use my Glossier Priming Moisturizer in Rich. One of the best hydrating moisturizers I have ever used. It is a really comfortable cream and it quickly dissolves to give a very dewy finish to my skin. I also looove to use it before my makeup to prime my face.
Step #6 & #7: Finally, MORE HYDRATION PLEASE.
These steps are additional whenever I feel like I need more hydration. For lips, I must apply lip balm. I use Glossier's Coconut Balm Dotcom, there is no other lip balm in my life, but Glossier's balm dotcoms. NO QUESTIONS. I love them and they keep my lips at their best. And for the other step, I use Laneige's Water Sleeping Mask twice a week. I use this magical product whenever I feel my skin still needs a bit more of hydration. It is a miracle worker, because it also clears pores and helps brighten my skin.
And that is my current nighttime skincare routine. I hope that I helped you in some way add more products or steps into yours and I would LOOOVE to hear from your daily or nightly skincare ritual!
Hugs,
Rachel
